I truly believe that if an individual has an Anti Tachycardia Device and has completed and succesfully passed a Cardiologists physical exam and has possesed Merchant Mariner Credentials prior to receiving the device should be able to obtain a waiver. It seems to me that we are putting extra stress on individuals that have built there lively hood around industries that require these licenses. It forces individuals in most cases to turn to the goverment for financial support. In many cases these devices help make the individuals healthier than before. We are now in an age of awareness and knowledge of proper respnse when or if an emergency was to arrise. Emergency services are only a phone call away shall they ever be needed. More people than not have cell phones as a last resort. Who at the department has more medical expertease or crfedential than the doctors doing the exams and screenings? Too often individuals with above and beyond positive Cardio results get turned down. The testing requirements and outlines had been drawn for a reason. If an individual can still pass these Stress test then what plausable reason can there be for denial? It is just forcing more people to be dependent on their goverment for financial support. These people would otherwise be working and in most causes obviosuly would prefer to work then be dependant on their/our government and other financial support institutions. Great expense goes into obtaining these credentials and proving ones health to be able to obtain the Merchant Mariner Credential. I am a 33year old fulltime working, tax paying citizen. I am a avid sportmen and boater and I approved this message!
