For several months now, this bridge has been opening (raised to non-existent water traffic) at approx. 5AM. I live in Somerset, and work in northern Mass. Coincidentally, I must travel over this bridge at the same time every weekday - 5AM. Those 5-to-10 minutes spent waiting to drive over the bridge can mean the difference between a relatively smooth ride to work and getting stuck in gridlock. Incidentally, I am not the only inconvenienced driver at that hour. There are, at my best estimate, between 30 to 50 idling cars eastbound with me. Is it absolutely necessary to hold up traffic at that hour?
