After glancing through this document, I have come to see how careful we are about who is able to adopt immigrant children. At first I wasn't sure how I felt about all the rules and regulations that were involved but then I realized that they are a good thing. I often hear horror stories about how much stress adoptions can cause not only the child, but also the birth parents and those wishing to adopt the child. But I feel that these rules would make it much easier for those who are involved in adopting an immigrant child and especially on the child itself. I do have a question about the part that states that the child must be living with the new parents for at least two years before they truly belong to those parents. I just wonder why two years? Why not just one? Doesn't that make it easier for the birth parents to say they want it back? And wouldn't that be hard on the child to keep moving around like that, wondering who his true parents are? I do like that there is this time period for everyone to get situated, I just think it may be a little long.
