The proposed change is a much needed revision to our current law and procedures regarding immigrants. I know of specific circumstances where this change will not only benefit specific persons and families but also our society at large.
It is unjust that an illegal must leave the country for a "waiting period" while the spouse and children of an illegal must stay in America due to work, school, family, and/or health obligations. Forcing families to seperate provides hardship to the whole family and also takes a productive and working person out of our country's work force. Why do we want to seperate families from one another? Seperation from one's family is never good for the family or good for America.
Why not issue a waiver so that a person might be able to continue their life in America? If the person is going to be granted resident status in a little while anyway then why force a person to uproot and seperate for such a long period of time?
As a person of faith, I see this a justice issue. Let's keep families together and let's keep productive people in our work force. It just makess good sense.
