My father is a WWII vet in a state home. My mom is paying almost $4000 a
month for his care. This bill would give them piece of mind in the later years. It
would also give mom the money she needs to remain is her home and get the
care she needs. They have used up most of the savings and mom can not afford
her home care anymore. In order to get this 2 year old bill going I would suggest
putting in a 30 day time line for the state home to apply, 30 day turnaround for the
VA to approve the application and start paying for the care,30 days to have the
facility apply for re-embersmet and 30 day for the VA to pay the facility. This
would still add another four monthes to a process that has taken way too long
already. These WWII vets will all be dead before this is implemented.
I would also suggest that vets that are getting VA compensation have this money
not be included in the cost of their care, as is presently being done in private
homes.
And last that all repayments be paid by the state to the estate of any vet who has
passed away since the retro date.
Please hurry this along...it has been too long...lets take care of these families
while they are still ALIVE !
