My father volunteered for Vietnam. He was not drafted, and he went in order to serve his country. He thought that was best. He is my hero now. In 1996 he had to retire on social security because of his heart. He is lucky to still be alive. He did not file anything with the VA, because he did not understand AO. For 15 years he has struggled to raise a family with a wife and 4 kids. His medical expenses were very high. He finally had to have 6 bypasses, in order to stay alive. We will not have him long, so I feel that he should be reimbursed for his suffering, both mental, financial, and physical, to the tune of 100% VA disability going back to 1996. That should be the least that the VA should do. Thanks for letting me make these comments, and God bless all the Vets, then and now. A simple,"thanks for your service", although appreciated, is just not enough. They deserve more.
