New constructions do not seem to keep up with the growing needs of parking; eg; phase 1's new area=54300 sq.ft at the current 987500 sq.ft while there will be 266 new parking spaces barely covering the 149 new employees. Also noted that 1500 patients and 3500 staffs per day at the SFVA running short of about 700 parking spaces already ? New construction can include building new parking to solve the parking problems such as blocking our driveways. In view of the recent deadly accident in the research laboratory, we are very concern about the health and safety of us neighbors. Etiological agents can spread rapidly and can be deadly. How do we mitigate the hazards. How do they impact us as neighbors and the entire Richmond district community ? If SFVA wants to do research and development, please consider locating to a non-residential area. Ironically, we, the tax payers, fund the project that can threaten the health and safety in addition to the convenience of our community. Please explore more effective alternatives to resolve these issues.
