These plans show that the VA continues to treat its neighbors with contempt. For years now, VA employees have parked on surrounding neighborhood streets and made it difficult or impossible for residents to park on their own streets. This is most problematic on street cleaning days which occur on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays every other week. Now, the VA plans to more than double the DEFICIT of onsite parking spaces. The EIR merely alleges WITHOUT ANY SUPPORTING EVIDENCE that the impact on the neighborhood will be minimal because people using the VA will simply use public transit or bicycles. We have observed that many patients of the VA do use public transit but the employees drive and park their cars on the neighboring streets. There is no reason or evidence to believe that the new people working at the VA as a result of this expansion will be any different than the existing employees.
