I have been employed as a home health aide for the past 15 years and have worked for several agencies. It has been my experience that home care providers have been grossly underpaid. I have seen wages as low as $125.00 per 24 hour shift.,the average being around $150.00 per 24 hour shift. There are usually no benefits because the agencies claim it is part time work, although I worked an average of 3 to 4 24 hour shifts per week. Home health aides provide much needed care and should be compensated adequately.
