horrible proposal. who is going to pay for this over time? it falls squarely on the shoulders of the elderly. the costs of private duty home care already are too pricey for them. this will increase the cost and be passe don to the consumer. in this economy and many living on fixed incomes, this lacks foresight. plus, it only serves to disrupt the continuity of the care they are receing. now longstanding caregivers will be scheduled out of their regular shifts to allow a new caregiver to come in, thereby disrupting the bond the patient has with their caregivers. since the elderly and infirmed will not pay for this overtime, caregivers who worked extra hours and made more money will not make as much as they will never be scheduled over 40 hours a week. therefore, this rule will not accomplish what it sets out and will actually cause workers to make less money.
