THE COMMENT PERIOD FOR THIS NOTICE IS EXTENDED UNTIL FEBRUARY 27, 2012; SEE NOTICE NO. 123A (attached to this document). In this notice, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) proposes to establish the 198-square mile "Middleburg Virginia" viticultural area in portions of Loudoun and Fauquier Counties in northern Virginia. TTB is proposing this action in response to a petition from a local wine industry member. TTB designates viticultural areas to allow vintners to better describe the origin of their wines and to allow consumers to better identify wines they may purchase.
