Title: Brazilian Institute of Cachaça (IBRAC) (Comment 9)
Abstract: This comment is from the Brazilian Institute of Cachaça (IBRAC), a trade association representing 80% of the Cachaça production of Brazil. The comment is signed by Vincente Bastos Ribeiro, president of the group's executive board. The comment supports the proposal outlined in Notice No. 127. However, the comment states that Brazilian law does not allow flavors to be added to "Cachaca," and asks that TTB scrutinize applications for label approvals for distilled spirits specialties to ensure that no flavored product claims to be "Cachaca" or refers to "Cachaca" in its fanciful name to create the erroneous impression as to its origin, identity, or characteristics.
