Details Information

Abstract: Effective on March 7, 2013, this final rule establishes the 74,900-acre “Elkton Oregon” American viticultural area in Douglas County, Oregon. This new viticultural area lies totally within the existing "Umpqua Valley" and the multi-county "Southern Oregon" viticultural areas. TTB undertook this rulemaking in response to a petition from local vinters and grape growers. This final rule also will allow the use of the name "Elkton OR" for this viticultural area. TTB designates viticultural areas to allow vintners to better describe the origin of their wines and to allow consumers to better identify wines they may purchase.
