SUMMARY:

The Maritime Administration (MARAD) invites public comments on our intention to request the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval to renew an information collection. The information to be collected is necessary in order for MARAD to perform and carry out its duties required by the Merchant Marine Act of 1936 as amended. We are required to publish this notice in the Federal Register by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995.

Abstract: In compliance with 46 U.S.C. 50102 (2007), the Merchant Marine Act of 1936, as amended, MARAD conducts this survey to obtain information from the shipbuilding and ship repair industry to be used primarily to determine, if an adequate mobilization base exists for national defense and for use in a national emergency.

Respondents: Owners of U.S. shipyards who agree to complete the requested information.

Affected Public: Owners of U.S. shipyards who agree to complete the requested information.

Estimated Number of Respondents: 200.

Estimated Number of Responses: 200.

Estimated Hours per Response: 30 minutes.

Annual Estimated Total Annual Burden Hours: 100.
