Regards prohibition of import of Alstroemeria aure owing to its weedy characteristics.
I have sold many clumps of A. aurea through the web-based business at buy-alstoemeria.com (site for Flowers & Greens) and have never had a complaint that it is weedy nor in the 20 years of growing this species in California have I seen it escape into any non-garden landscape.
None of the alstroemeria that I grow compete with native weeds and there is a constant battle to keep areas relatively weed-free so that i can grow alstroemeria for sale.
