Safety Standard for Play Yards

The NPR has incorrectly referenced the document ASTM F406 Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Non-Full-Size Baby Cribs/Play Yards. Any rules affecting bassinets for use in Play Yards should reference ASTM F2194 Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Bassinets and Cradles. ASTM F2194 Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Bassinets and Cradles is the basic standard covering bassinets for use in Play Yards as a Bassinet/Cradle Attachment as defined in Section 3.1.2. The work associated with Play Yard Bassinet rule making should be referred to subcommittee F15.18 which is responsible for revisions to ASTM F2194 Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Bassinets and Cradles. Placing the rules in the wrong standard will only add to confusion and unnecessary revisions to correct the problem in the future.
