As a woodworker, I have spent much time learning and using myriad powertools.
All tools require respect and cautious use. They are inherently dangerous when used improperly. Such as using a saw with the blade guard removed.
I strongly disagree with requirement of SawStop blade break technology.
For the simple reason, the technology gives the user a false belief in the safety of the saw.
A lack of respect and education cannot be overcome by a safety device.
I've already met young woodworkers who learned on the SawStop. Their approach to tools shows a disturbing lack of caution as they have come to believe the table saw is safe.
Anyone who lacks that fear and respect is in danger.
I also find it disturbing that the holder of the SawStop patents has been the lead in lobbying for these new rules. Table saw injuries have existed long before his invention.
Thank you for your consideration.
