Ms. Amy Williams, This is a real problem for Pharr Yarns. We make yarns similar to these ( if not the exact yarns) every day and see no reason for any exception. Please read my letter opposing this proposed change. We plan to communicate to our elected officials as well. Kurt, Who else would you suggest we communicate with ? Best regards, Jim Sells Pharr Yarns High Performance Business jim.sells@pharryarns.com Office: 704-823-2221 Mobile: 704-877-3024 ----- Forwarded by Jim Sells/McAdenville/PharrYarns on 12/29/2008 10:53 AM ----- David Brown/McAdenville/PharrYarns 12/23/2008 05:13 PM To Jim Sells/McAdenville/PharrYarns@PharrYarns, "Greg Watson" <gregw@ssmind.com>, "Teresa Stooksberry" <teresas@ssmind.com>, "Steve Smith" <steves@ssmind.com> cc Subject Re: Chem suits - DFARS RuleLink <Notes:///85256FC00067FFE4/38D46BF5E8F08834852564B500129B2C/6D72BC5BE A51DC18852575280073372A> All, It is the "Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement" and when it is included of part of a purchase order it invokes the Berry Amendment. Jim ________________________________ From: "Kurt Courtney" [kcourtney@apparelandfootwear.org] Sent: 12/23/2008 10:46 AM EST To: undisclosed-recipients: Subject: Chem suits - DFARS Rule Hello and Happy Holidays, GCC! Before we all break for the year, I wanted to bring to your attention that, on December 18, DOD issued an interim rule with regard to the acquisition of items containing para-aramid fibers and yarns manufactured in a foreign country for chemical suits. The determination authorizes DOD to acquire articles containing para-aramid fibers and yarns manufactured in foreign countries who have entered into a defense memorandum of understanding with the United States. Please submit comments in writing to the address shown in the website below on or before February 17, 2009, to be considered in the formation of the final rule. If you choose to not submit comments, but have information that you would like included into the association’s comments, please do not hesitate to share those concerns with me. Lastly, a special thanks to our dear friend Ruth Ganister for pointing out the rule! Happy New Year!!
