Regarding the new premium based Tricare for Retired Reserve. I have served our country for 22 years and have been deployed to Iraq on a 23 month deployment and the Health Care benefit premiums that are being offered to us through this program are outrageous. Currently I have tricare reserve select at 197.50 per month and will have to pay 976.41 per month if I want to retire. I gave the National Guard another year of mine and my families time in order to keep my current monthly rate and wait for this program to get started. It sure makes it hard for a soldier to retire. I am fortunate to retire has a Major, what about the enlisted. Of course that doesn't matter because we will not be recieving our national guard pay if we retire. I hope we all have great civilian jobs to cover this premium. Remember you are offering this insurance to a majority of reservist that are in there 40's. We have civilian jobs and don't recieve the active duty retirement pay and free health coverage from the day we retire. Most active duty personnel that retire in their 40's recieve these benefits and are still able to be employed to supplement their income. Our guard checks was are supplemental income. Active Duty or National Guard, we fight and defend together, why the outrageous premium. We can do better, a 750.00 increase. We are retiring, not looking for 2 more jobs. I know this is just a frustrated soldier expressing my opinion, but their is no benefit to this TRR.
