Fuel spill accidents happen on the farm but large ones are rare. How many farm
related fuel spills across America have truly done significant damage to the
environment in the last 30 years? How much did it cost to clean up those spills
during that same period of time? Is it more than a tiny fraction of what it will cost
the nation’s farmers to comply with this invasive regulation? I seriously doubt it.
American farmers know well that any farmer who tends to be careless with high
cost inputs such as fuel or who in general is not a good steward of the land is not
long a farmer. Therefore, this is an unreasonably burdensome and invasive
regulation on people who are already protective of the environment.
