AIRLINE MAINTENANCE INSPECTION INTERVALS D6-26100
SUBJECT:
The following is Air France response to the notification of Notice of
Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) Directorate Identifier 2008-NM-038-AD, March 13,
2008
This proposed AD would require repetitive inspections for damage of the electrical
terminal at the left and right flightdeck window 1, and corrective actions if
necessary.
COMMENTS RELATED TO THE PROPSED AD:
As the inspections can bring us to window 1 replacement, we would wish that the
intervals of inspections match with the Maintenance Checks.
According to AIRLINE MAINTENANCE INSPECTION INTERVALS D6-26100 ,
many airlines have their Maintenance Checks already below the intervals proposed
( 500 FH and 6000 FH ).
CONCLUSION:
1- For airplanes on which a corrective action--either replacement with a new
window 1 that uses screws and lugs for the electrical connections, or tightening a
loose screw--is done in accordance with Work Package 1 or 2 of the service
bulletin:
Air France feels that the detailed inspections for damage of electrical terminal ( J5
terminal ) should matched with Line Maintenance Check.
Air France proposes to do the inspection at intervals not to exceed 850 flight hours
( instead 500 flight hours ).
2- Air France feels that the repetitive interval to detailed inspections for damage of
electrical terminal ( J5 terminal ) should matched with Light Maintenance Check.
Air France proposes to do the repeat the inspection at intervals not to exceed
7,800 flight hours ( instead 6.000 flight hours ).
