As proposed, the airworthiness directive does not allow enough time for Twin Commander owners to comply. With the number of Twin Commanders in service, and the number of hours that they are flying, vs. the number of Commander service centers available for the inspection and repair, one year or 150 flight hours is not a realistic timeline for this inspection and repair to be complete. I suggest two years or 300 flight hours for compliance. The repair is not an immediate threat to airworthiness and these aircraft should be able to continue to fly safely for two more years with no action.
