The recent AD for the Let L-13 glider is of proportion to the manner in which the gliders are used in the US. Our club does not allow aerobatics and we use aero tow exclusively. To ground gliders flying under these conditions is folly. I recommend that the areas in question be inspected with dye on a regular basis. Our gliders were inspected for the earlier AD and no stress fractures were discovered. Grounding the L-13’s unnecessarily will have a huge negative impact on dozens of clubs and on soaring in the US in general. Please take this into consideration.
Thank you!
