For the safety of our children we must have Food Labeling Regulations in place. As a clear example, I discovered a new brand of package cakes while shopping recently. Due to my daughter's food allergies, I begin to read the label. Under the ingredients (in small print) were the words, "Allergy Information: processed in a facilty that uses peanuts" (in bold). My first thought was that these may actually be safe as there are none of the other top eight allergens. However, after reading the ingredients I learned that this product contained WHEAT, EGGS, MILK, SOY and PEANUTS. This completely misleading type of labeling can be extremely dangerous for someone with food allergies, especially young children who may only read the bold allergy statement. I urge you to PLEASE create mandatory allergy labeling regulations so that all manufacturers will label in the exact same way and label ALL ingredients (not spices, added color, etc.) Please help protect our children. Thank you.
