Please see the attachment with comments from the DaVita Dietitian Council about updating Food Labels. We represent over 1200 DaVita Renal Dietitians and over 100,000 DaVita dialysis patients. Our input regarding potassium and phosphorus on Food Labels is significant to the 26 million Americans who are already experiencing 1-5 stage kidney failure, many of whom have not been diagnosed. Sara Colman, DaVita Inc., - We represent 1200 Renal Dietitians who work with over 100,000 kidney dialysis patients at DaVita, Inc. To date, an estimated 485,000 people require dialysis or have had a kidney transplant, with a projected increase to half a million by 2010.
