The FSMA Proposed Rule for Produce will decrease the 48 million Americans who get sick every year. With the major elements of using preventive controls, inspection, imported food safety, and enhanced partnerships will take time and money. I wonder how long will it take for the rule to be implemented. There are many factors such as hiring and getting new technology that takes time which is not my most concern. I am concern of where is the money going come from since food is already increasing in price. Also, with recession there might not be enough funding to support this law. I hope it does passes since there are practices that are not being followed correctly which hasn’t prevented microbial from cross contaminating to produce from soil and water. However, this rule will definably increase jobs to take care of the agricultural water, health and hygiene, and equipment tools, and buildings.
