If the first rule is passed, precautionary measures will be taken with food products entering the US from external regions. It is important to generate criterion for foreign foods coming into the states because there is no direct control in other countries to secure these products are up to par with US standards. Also, foodborne illnesses are a major issue in the country today. With this new rule, all food manufacturers and producers will be obligated to have set plans ready to solve any issues that arise regarding these food pathogens. This will increase the populations standpoint on the security and safety of their food. Once the rule is finalized through the Federal Register, the manufacturers and producers will only be giving one full year to comply with the new preventative regulations. This requirement proposed seems like a legitimate time limit and may be obtained. The most important element to make this rule happen is to follow through with presentations around the country and inform people through public and local meetings.
