To the best of our knowledge, there are no tunnels in Indiana that meet the definition outlined in the proposed regulations.
The items in the proposed regulations that need further clarification for Indiana are:
Sec. 650.507 Tunnel Inspection Organization, part (d): Is a State that does not have any tunnels located within its borders, (based on the definitions of a tunnel in the regulations), required to maintain a “Tunnel Inspection Organization”?
Sec. 650.515 Inventory, part (a) Preliminary inventory & part (d) Tunnel inventory: Is a State that does not have any tunnels located within its borders required to maintain an inventory of data showing that it does not have any tunnels, and are they then required to submit data annually to the FHWA to confirm that this has not changed?
