Hello, I've performed CDL/DOT exams for over 30 yrs and FAA medical exams for 29 yrs. I think the national registry of examiners is a good idea, as there are many current providers unaware of the DOT rules and regs, passing unqualified drivers.
I also agree with earlier respondents concerned about what seems like an unreasonable reporting period of under 12 hours. Occasionally medical emergencies or other interruptions can take us away from our offices, making it difficult to comply with the proposed timeframe.
In that no prior exam reporting was required on the part of medical examiners, suddenly going to "end of business day" reporting seems quite onerus.
I propose the guideline be changed to require that the desired report be generated within one week of the examination. This should be possible in most offices.
Thank you
