I am just commenting on the news that the gray wolf population will be removed from Endangered Species Act protection with the blockage of court review as well. All of this was also sneakily tucked away in the budget. I am just a person who is worried about this. I am not a Republican or a Democrat. I happen to be travelling to Yellowstone National Park this upcoming year. This is a place where people travel to from all over the world due to its beauty and diversity of wildlife found no where else in the world. They have a thriving wolf population that was reintroduced in the mid 90's after hunting nearly wiped out these majestic creatures. It is truly one of the great sucess stories for conservation of all time. Now that they have thrived Congress apparently wants to wipe them out all over again. Have we learned nothing from history. Tucked away cowardly in the bill for the budget, Congressmen as usual have cracked under the pressure of special interest groups. Big time ranchers and sportsmen who have a vested interest in the decimation of the wolf population. Apparently the lives of these animals who have a right to live just like anything else are less important than the want's of ranchers and spoortsmen. They simply bother ranchers and sportsmen are just ticked off that they are killing the elk they hunt. Have we as a nation honestly decided that the systematic murder of these creatures is the solution. They are animals that struggle to survive in this cruel world we humans have created. The fact that jealous sportsmen who are mad about wolves killing THEIR elk is preposterous. Since when do we own these animals and decide their fate. Ranchers can find solutions to protect their cattle and hunters who kill animals for sport can find a new hobby instead of lobbying to keep the herds they kill intact. We as a people have come so far and should know that this is wrong and for once in our lives we need to stand up for what is right and just.
