"We can achieve this only if we demonstrate that the benefits of prairie dog conservation outweigh the costs to the landowner..." How can you demonstrate something that is impossible? Stop wasting so much time and money on this stuff. These glorified rats are everywhere! I noticed that your facts indicate that the Utah prairie dog is found mostly in Southwestern Utah. This is correct. However, they are all over central and eastern Utah as well. Your species range data is quite inaccurate, in that it does not include Emery or Carbon counties (eastern and north-eastern Utah), but I have personally killed thousands of Utah prairie dogs on farmland in those areas over the past 15 years. Prairie dogs are like rabbits: some years they have low numbers and other years their population explodes. Stop wasting your time and our money trying to "fix" the situation.
