I have been an life agent for 43 years and a CLU since 1979. This new health care bill has created so many new rules that a client cannot keep up with all them since their business is not health insurance. We health agents try to stay up with them with the idea that I will be able to help the citizen understand what their options. PUtting an agents name on the application and paying him a fee similar to what is paid on the Medicare Advantage plan is a good idea. I have referred several clients to this plan that knew nothing about the plan prior to me telling them about it. I received nothing in commission but a grateful thank you. I did not mind that but it's hard to feed my family on a "thank you". If you do add us to the application do not make it so we have to go thru many hours of certification for the small commission we get. It's not worth it and will keep many agents from participating. I hear frustration after frustration with the medicare advantage certification requirements that many agents are staying away from marketing. Making the rules so stringent with severe penalties if we don't follow the EXACT letter of the law discourage most of us from attempting to sell any of that. It seems like that's what CMS wants.
