Making Tax Preparers get a PTIN is in the right direction. However, being a licensed Tax Preparer in Oregon, I believe we should be grandfathered in. Looking at the industry, this is not a young persons field. Oregon Tax Preparers are required to take an 80 hour class and pass a difficult test. It's hard to believe other states have not followed Oregon. Oregon's LTP's & LTC's compliment each other. With the tax laws so complex, it is valuable to have the input from both.
