EPA ratings for Gas mileage have recently been debunked for Hyundai. As I understand it the Original equipment MFG's give the EPA the ratings. It would seem that such a sytem is setup for cutting corners at best and Fraud at worst. Who is watching the hen house, the EPA? Now that gas mileage is so important to so many consumers and is a growing and ever larger part of the consumers budget, it would seem that MFG's are doing there all to get around the EPA regulations. Dont believe me? Go into any Ford dealer and read the EPA ratings. Then go out in the real world and try to equal those numbers. The MFG's will say it all depends on the individual driving habits. That is pure nonsense. I have had 18 Fords, not one has come close. Is the EPA trying to molify Congress and giving a wink to the OEM MFG's? Now if your eighty and dont drive over 25 mph and 55 mph on the highway you might come close maybe. Is this real world? Can consumers count on the EPA to help them? Are you doing your job? Only you can answer that. However there is no getting around the fact that most people drive 70mph plus on the highway and want plenty of power for stop lights etc. When are we going to get some real MPG numbers that make sense instead of this guessing game everyone is forced to play today. Do you think Hyundai is the only one getting away with this? Go to a Ford dealer, then test. See what happens.
