I am very concerned about implementing compatible closures in the USVI. I don't think the VI Gov. will establish reasonable limits. Over the last 30 years they have allowed fishers to severely impact the resource and I believe will continue to do so until it effectively eliminated. I know that at this time the Commissioner of DPNR is considering increasing the 50,000 lb quota to 75,000 lbs fo queen conch. The federal government should take control to limit over fishing.
