I support the implementation of regulations to require fisherman outside of the United States importing fish into the United States to conform to our same standards and regualations to protect marine mammals and endangered species. I understand that impact is currently being assessed on how certain unethical fishing is affecting the maximum productivity of the populatin of the species. I support those studies and also would like to state that this is a clear cut issue of right and wrong. It is wrong to fish in our waters in a way that promotes the suffering, explotation, and waste of marine life. There are technolgies that can be implemented to protect marine mammals from being caught as bycatch. This technology should be implemented world wide as a matter of ethics. I am proud that we as the people of the United States are working to implent regulations that will further the goal of protecting marine mammlas and endangered species from becoming the victims of careless bycatch. The future of the sustainability of our oceans as a whole depend on these regualtions and others to speak out internationally for protection sof our marine life and resources. I also plan to boycott the purchase of fish from other countries who have unethical fishing practices until these measures are paseed. I will not finacially support unethical fishing practices that kills our precious marine life.
