I oppose your proposal to extend the Sanctuary into Larsen's Bay Unit. Here are my reasons:
1. A timeframe of three months of consultation is not enough time to warrant your including of Larsen's Bay Unit into the Sanctuary, alas become Federally regulated. As one of many stakeholders in opposition, we have not requested to be part of the unit, nor have we been asked.
2. As there have not been a village council of chief meetings in Vaitogi for many years, your proposal was not formalized in the presence of our Vaitogi chiefs.
3. The name "Larsen's Bay," is not readily used in Vaitogi, as from the beginning of the Vaitogi, the name has always been "Fogama'a."
4. Proper transparency and notification of stakeholders is necessary in order for a more democratic discussion on Larsen's bay unit becoming a Sanctuary.
5. If said area falls under Federal Jurisdiction, Sanctuary needs to elaborate on proposed regulations and if any changes will be made in the future that will effect livelihood of those affected.
6. Any or All future proposals of regulations made to the proposed area inclusion should be subjected to future consultation and approval from stakeholders.
7. The federal government has designated the name “Larsen” without conferring with the village of Vaitogi. Fogama'a (Larsen's Bay) is part of Vaitogi.
