I am on a Dive team that feels that OSHA should not get involved in the area
of "Public Safety Diving"
The reason being, there are many organizations out there that will state that they
are the best way to do something and that one should follow their rules and
regulations.
have taken a class from one of these other organizations and didn't tell them who
I was or where I was from. I was shocked to see how "dangerous" their way
was. The way that we do things is based off of the Navy Dive tables.
They are old and they are right. Also their signals are the best, yes they are
complicated but a tender can actually talk to the diver with their signals. With the
others. Well not really.
If OSHA is going to get involved and I pray that they do not, they should stick with
the Navy.
Also know that if OSHA gets involved, many volunteer organizations out there will
have to fold because of lack of funds for training to the OSHA ways.
Oh by the way. My name isn't Gerhart Schnable III, that is my pen name. I can
not say who I am because of my association with some dive teams.
