Biomass Crop Assistance Program

The Biomass Crop Assistance Program should include firewood from the tops and limbs of timber sales so it does not get left in a slash pile on the logging project. In Montana we recently lost our only source for non-merchantable wood - Smurfit Stone Container. The landowners we log for are not happy with the amount of slash being left on their property as a huge fire hazard and waste. If BCAP would include firewood we could utilize this "waste" and deliver firewood to homes.
