The provisions of this new legislation are onerous and without enough implementation time. Why create another physician/provider database when we already have NPI. At the very least, if PECOS is necessary, we need time to determine if our ordering physicians are enrolled and if not, to get them enrolled. We operate a needed community service with our Home Health Services and I would hate to not serve an elderly person in their home because their physician is not enrolled in PECOS or worse yet, have CMS encounter the cost of SNF care because Home Health is unable to care for the patient due to physician not being enrolled in PECOS.
