The allignment of EHRbased reporting and hospital quality reporting systems is sorely lacking. The result is a ghuge workload for all staff, increased healthcare costs and a great burdon on providers in trying to mee patient needs.
We are working with our EHRvendor to ready ourselves for electriniv reporting in 2014 for MU and in 2013 for PQRS. However this is a nascent effort, will require even more expense and rests on top of all of tghe other quality initiatives.
We have reportrd year 1 MU for our hospitals and will be reporting year to in FY 2013. We will be reporting year 2 for many EPs in CY 2013.
We may not be able to do the planning and EHRbuild required to participate in the 2013 pilot.
I believe that the government is significantly underestimating the effort, cost and effect on providers of keeping pace with the magnitude and pace of change required by its myriad quality efforts
