The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 has caused the United States to become divided. Those who need health insurance feel that opponents of this program do not see the "big picture". I agree with the proponents of the PPACA and think that this rule will help the opponents of the program with one large "flaw" to the PPACA. Opponents feel that the PPACA will force businesses, especially small businesses, to pay for health insurance that they cannot afford. This rule will implement "Exchanges" which will make it easier for small businesses to provide affordable health care to their employees. Since the small businesses are going to be mandated to provide this health insurance anyway, this rule will assist the small businesses in finding affordable health insurance. Insurance companies also benefit from this proposed rule. The rule will help increase competition in the marketplace and provide insurance companies with a forum to sell their product to the public. This competition could also assist with providing lower costs health insurance to the small businesses that will be mandated to buy health insurance for their employees. Best of all, employees (and the general population) benefit from this rule. Employees who did not have health insurance before will be given the opportunity to receive health insurance from their employer. This will also assist in driving health insurance costs down for all Americans because our premiums may be lowered because of the decrease in those using hospitals without medical insurance and those costs needing to be spread in the form of higher premiums to those who do have health insurance.
