I am very concerned that the provisions requiring religious employers to provide contraceptive and abortifacient coverage for its employees, even if these services are against doctrine and conscience, is a considerable breach of religious freedom protections.
I am further concerned that the concessions made by the administration to allow the insurance company to fund services to take the employer out of the transaction, is a solution in words only, and does not provide true conscience protections.
I am aware that many citizens use and support the use of contraceptives, but this issue has further reaching consequences. As a physician, I am concerned that this kind of regulation decision may open the door to further obstacles to my practice of my profession and my religion according to my conscience.
