I am both a US naturalized citizen and a Canadian citizen, currently residing in the USA,I am contemplating a decision to reside in Canada as well for non concuurent periods of up to 183 days to re-instate my Canadian Health Care, and purchase travel health care for my trips back to the USA,as I have many friends and family in both countries. If I make this decision I plan on cancelling my current US Health Care Plan upon my re-instatement.
My concern is that I understand that beginning Jan.1/2014 all US citizens will be mandated to have some form of heath coverage and that since I will meet the Canadian foreign residency requirement to be on that health care system,I feel I should be exempt from mandated US health care,in other words the new rules being proposed should be based on residency exceptions and not just citizenship.
I hope my comments are valid and I trust they will be taken into consideration during the rule making process,as this is of major importance to me as I am sure there are others that will be in this exact same situation....its simply a matter of fairness.Thank you for your time and consideration.
