It is high time that Scalloped Hammerhead Sharks are being protected, because their numbers are way below their normal populations all over the world. Hammerhead sharks are very much in demand because of shark finning for shark fin soup. Making finning illegal is very important but it does not solve the problem totally. The US should go ahead and make the possession and trade in shark fins illegal, just like Hawaii, California, Oregon and Washington State have done. That is the only measure that will save the sharks. It would be a wonderful opportunity for the United States of America to show leadership and help an important cause, without having major expenses. Please consider this step and you will emerge as a true world leader in the environment
