In this advanced notice of proposed rulemaking, TTB announces that it is considering amending the regulations concerning various winemaking terms commonly used on labels and in advertisements to provide consumers with information about the growing or bottling conditions of wine. These terms include "estate bottled," "estate," "estate grown," "proprietor grown," and "vintner grown," and other such words. Through this notice, TTB invites comments from wine industry members and the general public as to whether and to what extent TTB should propose specific regulatory amendments for further public comment. The original comment period has been extended by Notice No. 113. Comments on Notice No. 109 are now due on or before March 4, 2011.
