As a truck driver, I have been delayed at shippers and receivers. There are times that I stayed moving as steady as I could safely do to make a delivery, had a flat tire that had to be replaced and was one to two hours late. That caused to receiver to have me deliver he NEXT DAY 12 to 24 hours later. Other times I arrive at a shipper early and I am still there 6 to 8 hours later waiting to get loaded. If we cause anger with the shipper he threatens to have us wait another day and MOST TIMES THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT ALL OF OUR WAIT TIME. Or I may get a load that took extra time to pickup and the transport time to the reciver is too tight to still deliver ON TIME as the shipper wants. MANY PROBLEMS IN THIS WITH SHIPPERS & RECEIVERS and all they want is for the driver to get it there anyway, to just do whatever it takes to make that delivery. What that means to me is a total disregard for the driver trying to deal with heavy traffic, bad weather, delays because of the weather and the occassional road closures due to weather, wrecks & construction. JUST GET IT THERE, DRIVER! Legal log book... driver that is your problem, just get it there ASAP! This is the attiude and DISRESPECT many drivers deal with quite often from their own company along with the shippers & receivers.
