I first became aware of Tiger Salamanders in 1973 at Modesto Junior College. Efforts were being made back then to preserve their habitat around the Don Pedro dam site. Unfortunately those efforts were not very successful. Humans can, and do, live in many varied habitats. These animals are helpless as far as modifying their own habitat. Think of all the wasted areas in and around our existing towns and cities that should be "filled in" and revitalized before increasingly scarce natural habitats are disrupted. Please designate this relatively small area of Sonoma County as Critical Habitat for the California Tiger Salamander. Do not let greed override wisdom.
