I think a fishing closure from May1,-August 31, is inevitable for the MHI, I have a
commercial fishing license and bottom fish as much as I can. As far ass the
closure I think it is a necessary enviormental sacrifice that as fishermen we must
all make. I have noticed that with the closure this past year is has made a
difference of the Opakapaka stocks in the Maui area, fishing has improved. As far
as bag limits how are you going to enforce it, especially with commercial
fishermen, after all its their way of making a living, especially since their income is
allready cut in half witjh the closure. Being a fisherman I think that bottom fishing
supplies a very valuable and popular food source, to our community in it's freshest
state possible.
