If you are going to make a huge change like this in the middle of the worst recession/depression since the 1930's, you need to ease it into force, not simply spring it on retirees/laid off workers/ the victims of the big banks and Wall Street greed. I had to take early social security to survive, but planned to pay it back. Now you have made this ruling effective immediately. How in the world can anyone plan anything for retirement, when the government changes the way social security is administered and whether cost of living increases have to go by the wayside (for how long is anyone's guess).
Withdraw from our wars, before hurting older people's retirement. It will also give us money for education to educate our young and give them a chance, which in turn will strengthen social security when they are actually able to make a living and pay into the system.
This is a very sad statement about the state of our country, which cannot even consistently maintain a policy in the middle of the worst recession of our lives.
